From Kuala Lumpur to Muar is approximately 150km and its distance from Malacca is about 45km and Singapore, 179km. Muar is one of the ancient towns that has about 130 years of history, it is also known as "Bandar Maharani". The meaning of Muar is river and with the pronunciation of 'muak' and 'mu'ar'. 'Muak' is a Malay word which means rowing the boat till get bored ot it, in the history there is a record of it. and 'mu'ar' is actually an Indian language, which means crooked river. Maharani is actually queen, so you are stepping a queen town.
This place is suitable for small trips. The town is peaceful, clean and very historical. The marks from the war are still there, distinctive buildings from Malays, Arabian style, Nyonya's temple style, accesories from the straits, and also classic western design. This place is filled with rich text of history.
When coming to Muar, you will definitely pass by Muar's bridge, then after that you can see the clock tower. The whole town's road is not complicated, the roads are divided by from Chinese saying" Number 1 to 6" roads. They divide them by area, so it's easier to recognize. If by walking, you can walk half of the town for just half a day.
Most of the people here in Muar are Chinese, and to be specific, most of the Chinese are Hokkien and TeoChew almost took the most part, you can also see Hainanese. Each of the ethics has their own uniqueness. The whole Muar you can sense a style of tradition. You can sense them from snacks, cafe and restaurants, but what's little bit surprising is most of the youngsters here dare to venture into new challanges.
