Because the owner himself love to cook and creating new dish is his interest. Ever since he was 16 years old, he has started to learn the origins of food and also how to be a professional chef. That’s how he started to find a professional academy, ready himself and go to hotels or even famous restaurant to work and gain experience there. About 1 year ago, he and his friend together to start “Samp’s”, The meaning behind the name is actually the name of the boss which are Sampson + Sukeat.

Their starting point is to start their own career in Muar. The reason why Samps’ exist is to let the citizens here, don’t matter is youngster, kids, or even adults, understand the western food is not that westernized, to change the typical thought in their mind. Western food & Chinese food are actually the same, each person has different view to them. Due to people’s knowledge about western food is little, people will less likely want to try it and hence their range of taste are narrow. The foods here is to change the taste bud to citizens here and try to innovate new food to people here.

The young Sampson said that as a chef you need to know the basic principle of being chef. If you think that the food can’t be eaten, you can’t ever serve them to the customer. Not only that, hygiene, quality of food, and service to customer are all important for chef, which are also respect to the customer.

Samps’ menu are design by his own. He loves to go around to look for food, and will think how to create new dish for introduce to Muar. Non-stop improvise, plus mixture of the local recipe, that is how you can see the lava toast, limited edition salted egg pork chop, waffle burger, charsiew & salted with white sauce spaghetti, and other crossover food.

Now Muar are starting to accept this new taste, just for example for spaghetti. The taste of spaghetti is based on most of the Muar’s citizen preference. Unlike the western style, aldente, which are not fully cooked. Samp’s spaghetti are cooked like how they cook in local style, and by that you can taste the noodle instead of pouring paste over the spaghetti noodle.

They sell over 20 types of spaghetti in this place, and the taste are rather more condensed, which are made from local spices and ingredients. For example their signature squid ink spaghetti, other than squid ink over the noodles, they also put a squid which about half of the arm long, which they are very generous. Not only is nice to see, but the taste are really tasty too. Thanks to the boss generosity, the customer are able to taste this wonder ful dish. Not only that, their soft shell crab and small lobster spaghetti is a must to order too. The taste are really 100% pure seafood taste. This is the result that came from a chef who are strict to quality of food. This is really the best.

Their dessert will your emotion bomb! Not only they used different type of ice-cream, chocolate and fruits cover up the whole toast, they still have to put a cone of Magnum ice cream, just by this alone, how can a customer will not come back to this restaurant?

Sampson said that both of the bosses has a dream which is they hope Samp’s will be a a brand that representing Muar, which let people in Muar bring this name to outside rather than the brand outside bringing it into Muar. So to let the newer generation of Muar will not go outstation to work, instead staying at their hometown. This is what they can do for Muar, and to let other people know that Muar has soething unique, and together we bring out the meaning of “We Love Muar’.
