The name of "Bentayan" food court is based on the street located there, "Jalan Betayan" and origin from a Malay word "bantaian" which means execute. The story behind is actually from Melaka's first king, Parameswara refuge to Muar, and during that time he see's a lot of monitor lizard, so his guards hurried executes those monitor lizards. 

This food court has been operated for quite sometime, since 1980 and it's the biggest food court in Muar, there are around 20-30 stalls. What's even greater is almost every stall there are time-honored stalls. Each of the stall is unique and also very delicious. This place is like all the good food has all caught in one net. Even the drinks, there are variety of choices, like sugar cane, fruit juices, dessert and many more. 



The food court is self-service, the customer have to find their own seat, then go to respective stalls to order what you want, but the customer doesn't need to bring their food back to their table. After ordering you can sit at your place and the food will be served.

The environment is clean, bright spacious and the seats are enough for everybody.

In front of the food court has set-up a lion dance statue, is to honor Kun Sheng Kong lion dance association, so to show that this food court is also a very important landmark in Muar.
