Another of the “four heavenly kings” – Chwee Kueh, literally translated as Water Rice Cake. The owner Mr. Lim, a delightful man, who is almost always busy at his stall.
The radish in the pot is always boiling, and he would be always scooping up Chwee Kueh bowl after bowl. Its rice fragrance lingering in the air and along with his homemade radish, it is a perfect combination. This is a dish the locals have been eating over decades – a simple looking dish that requires much skill.
If you prefer strongly flavoured food, you may add on chilli sauce. The queue may get pretty long and some even have to queue up for approximately 15 minutes and more, but yet customers are willing to wait as it is definitely worth the wait and proves how good these Water Rice Cakes are.
The owner is very well mannered and a sociable fellow and he loves having chats with his customers. You might even find yourself chattering away with him as you wait for his savoury dish.
