LOBAK ROJAK
Just by reading its name, you wouldn’t know what it is.
We all know spiced rolls and are familiar with rojak. Besides them both being popular snack in Malaysia, they actually have nothing much in common. Yet, here in Muar, they have combined these two snacks into one unique snack.
If you did not pay attention its signboard on the glass of the little stall at Jalan Bakri, you would probably assume that they only sell normal rojak and spiced rolls. The owner put spiced rolls ingredients into good use – bean curd skins, spring rolls, tofu, sausages and his very own homemade prawn paste with crushed peanuts.
Spiced rolls are originally oily, the owner skillfully fries his spiced rojaks so that they are not oily and are crispy. And when mixed in with the homemade prawn paste, along with the sweet and sour fruits from rojak. Who would’ve guessed that this combination would work out so well and taste so perfect? One plate would definitely not be enough to satisfy your cravings.
This dish could help save up a lot of tummy space as customers are able to taste two kinds of snacks in a dish. It is a dish that practically kills two birds with one stone. This way, tourists would have more chance of trying the many more delicious foods in Muar. The owner’s idea is absolutely brilliant.
The stall has only been opened for 5 years but has received many positive feedbacks and comments. It has attracted many customers through its good name.
The spiced rojak would be a wonderful surprise to your tea breaks!
