Traditional Teoh Chew Kuih @glutonny street



This stall that sell TeoChew cake, has been passed down for about three generation. Initially is started by the boss's grandmother, and is selling Hokkien style apam, then later on back to their own ethics's snack, and it became more popular. 

What they is rice cake, black cake and white cake. The boss said that, originally has a lot more type but now only left the one that the customers' favourite. Others are not favored by others or the cost are too expensive, so they are forced to give up on them.

There was bamboo shoot cake, which the filling is made from bamboo shoot, but now it has replaced by turnip as filling because bamboo shoot are rare to be found and not everyone loves the taste. The rice cake, is made from glutinous rice, and there are two type of them sweet and salty. For sweet is made from green bean and the salty is made from roast pork, char siew.

The other type is black cake, which use black sesame into bean paste, hence a new type of cake has born.

After choosing, the boss insist of using a traditional way, which they will bring it to pan-grilled. A hot cake put into your mouth, you can feel the texture of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. If you want to eat them on the next day, you have to tell the boss, so that he won't grill it.

Snack from the street, not only you are eaten them, you can even see the a traditional food here.
